im going to be putting together a couple of linux machines, and on one of them im going to be running mandrake. i wanted to try 1 or 2 other distros and wanted to know what the top 3 most popular (as far as how many ppl use them) distros were BESIDES mandrake.

Your likely gonna get a zillion answers but I Like SuSE and Libranet.

A lot of people around here seem to be using Debian.

I read something about Mandrake overtaking Redhat as most popular in the US - then again, that might have been on Mandrake's website (http://www.mandrakesoft.com)... :rolleyes:

ok now that i have that info, where can i go to download them for free?
im going with redhat, slackware and debian. im going to burn them to installable cds.

I would go with slackware and debian. But
slackware is my faviorite :)

You might want to try Progeny Debian v1.0 - newton.

It has slicker install interface than Debian.
You still get all the benefits, it's just an easier install for newbies.
