I just want to know it Linux (any distro) supports a Creative 256 live 5.1 sound card.

i have a media forte quad extreme 256r. where can i get drivers for those?

i have redhat 7.3 and mandrake 8.2.

What chip does that use? If you can tell me that, I might be able to tell you.

I've never heard of that soundcard.

I would suggest you try some Google for Linux (see my sig) for your soundcard to see if it is indeed supported and what modules it uses.
