Run X in a different terminal

I want to run XDM on tty12, it's currently on tty7, i tried putting it in my inittab, but that didn't work. I don't know where it stores what terminal it's supposed to run on.

I'm not at my box currently but see /etc/X11 directory where you should be able to find the xdm config file and modify it to your liking.Hope this helps.
