I am currently going to a high school that is located on a techical school campus... I get high school classes and technical classes. I am in the Web Design program, and I amone of the first to reach the last set of unit sheets "E". So far the course has been all Microsoft, Macromedia, NOF products. Tis last set of Unit sheets has a lot of work in Microsoft Information sServer 4.0. The previous teacher was a MS supporter, and thought Linux was just something some company came out with to steal some of MS's spotlight. The new teacher knows next to nothing. Anyway I had a talk about all the MS **** they are making us do and asked that she replace some of the curriculum with Apache and other sources than MS. I told her Apache was the most used Web Server application and such. She said if I could find proof, from a reliable source that it is the most widespread that she could justify changing the curriculum to Apache. Does anyone know of supporting sources/facts of Apache's benifits and edge over MS? Thanks for any information you can give.

Well for starters you might consider looking at the netcraft survey. This shows it is more widespread than MS for one. I will have to look for other articles in a little but this should give you a start.
http://www.netcraft.com/survey/
http://www.networkcomputing.com/1119/1119f1products_6.html This has apache listed as the #6 product of the decade but then again your teacher might argue with you because i think NT is at #4. So go figure.

I don't have benchmarks listed in there (and i don't have the time to get them right now) but i believe IIS is faster at serving static content but if i remember right Apache own at dynamic content. Anyways hopefully this will give you a good start for your campaign.

That's not accurate (at all).
