LinuxSC 08-04-2002, 01:17 PM which version would you say has advanced the most so far (in terms of easy install, hardware set up etc.) Gentoo, Rock, Sorcerer, sourcemage, lunar???????? fancypiper 08-04-2002, 01:30 PM I installed Gentoo with minimal problems. :D As far as hardware support, you get source code for the kernel, so you have to compile the support you need. It's source code based. :D LinuxSC 08-04-2002, 01:46 PM How hard is it to compile and where do i get the drivers from? fancypiper 08-04-2002, 01:57 PM See the Gentoo documentation site (http://www.gentoo.org/index-docs.html). They have a much better explanation than I could give. Read the Portage Manual, the USE Variable HOWTO and the Gentoo Linux CD Installation Guide thoroughly before beginning. Emerge mc and links first to make the command line a little easier. mdwatts 08-04-2002, 04:29 PM Originally posted by LinuxSC How hard is it to compile and where do i get the drivers from? Gentoo is very easy to install as long as you follow the installation instructions. What drivers are you looking for? During the Gentoo install, you also compile the kernel. That is where you select what hardware support you require. justlinux.com
