I noticed that none of the NHFs or INSTALL docs list that you need to copy your System.map over your old System.map

Does anyone know why this is. When the new System.map is not copied over it causes errors all over the place(it doesnt stop you from booting, but I like a clean error free boot myself)

Just curious

Because it doesn't actually do anything as far as I know. But I often thought of that myself, until I learnt the wonder of symlinks.

Hmmm, Are you sure non of the NHF's say that, I could have sworn that my NHF on re-compiling the kernel for mandrake users, tells you to cp the System.map to /boot/System.map-<version>.
cheers
