Hello.
Can someone help me with simply setting up sendmail to just send it out for now.
I've got a cgi script that is sending out passwords to users but they are getting caught in the que and saying can't resolve host (whatever).
I've been doing some tinkering using linuxconf and webmin but I can't figure out how to just get it to send it out of the machine?
Thanks in advance!

What distro? Sendmail needs to be able to resolve *your* address in the DNS system, can it? Can you do this:
echo hello |sendmail -v validuser@mybox
Watch errors, then look at /var/log maillog to see what happened to that local mail. Can you telnet into port 25 and talk to it manually? Can you succeed at sending mail to a user with telnet? (type "help" to get the syntax it wants).Post results of all this back, we'll get it. Ray

Thanks for the help,
I'm using Redhat 7.1.
I can't seem to be able to telnet into port 25. It just says I can't?
I'm telneting like this-
telnet 10.0.0.4 25
Is that right?
And as far as the echo command-
It just echo's back what I type, however I can't get that line you typed right before sendmail? How do I do that?
I'm sure the problem is a DSN config problem. I seem to be having the most trouble with that.
Here's a little snippet from the log you wanted me to look at too-

Ok...here's an update.
In webmin I changed the send outgoing mail via host to my isp smtp server (mail.earthlink.net)
And now mail created from my main user account went out ok!
But here;s the message I am recieving from the message being sent out from the cgi script.
It's on a virtual host too-
The original message was received at Sat, 4 Aug 2001 13:21:33 -0500
