Hi,

Looking for a nice mp3 player for Linux. I want one where you can customize it with nice skins like the Sonique player for Windows. I also want a nice graphic equilizer for the player with presets. Are there any out there?

Also, if anybody could point me in the direction of some video players that will play avi's and Quicktime files (.mov), please let me know.

Some sites with LOTS of Linux apps would be must appreciated as well. Thanks! :)

Xmms (http://www.xmms.org) has most of the features you're looking for, is somewhat of the 'Winamp' clone for *nix, and I believe there are plugins to play various other media types, .mpg, .avi, etc. Not certain about Quicktime support, though.

A couple of good sites for Linux software are
linux.davecentral.com (http://linux.davecentral.com/) and the much ballyhooed freshmeat.net (http://www.freshmeat.net). Enjoy!

I like xanim for avis, not too pretty but easy. Not sure how it does with movs, I need to try it. ;)

There are tons of mp3 players out there for linux, certainly more then there are for windows.

If you like sonique, version 2 whenever it comes out will be available for Linux according to their sonique 2 faq: (http://sonique.lycos.com/support/sq2faq/?activesec=4#4.5)

For vids you can try xmms with the smpeg and avi plugins, mplayer (http://mplayer.dev.hu/homepage/) or xine (http://xine.sourceforge.net/).

If you're looking for software sourceforge.net and freshmeat.net are great places to search.
