Does anyone know if an archos recorder can be used with linux. I'm not sure if there are any drivers for linux distros, but i could be wrong.

Also, I want to put linux on box(probably mandrake or suse) and i dont know if my hayes 56k modem will work. Ive checked the hardware compatible lists and there isnt any information regarding the modem, negative or positive. If anyone has this modem, your advice would be a godsend.

What is a Archos recorder? You could try searching Google for Linux.

Did you try www.linmodems.org to see if the Hayes is listed?

An archos recorder is a hard drive mp3 player that doubles as a removable hard drive. It connects to the computer using usb.

Ok then...

Someone posted a similiar thread a week or two ago. Try searching the forums for 'usb-storage'.

Also www.linux-usb.org may have something on those devices including what modules are required and how to mount.

Of course there is always Google for Linux.

Thank you so much. I went to linux-usb.org and it resolved several of my worries.
