He was a side character in the old Underdog cartoons. Was a talking walrus who's sidekick was a penguin (I forget his name, maybe it was Tux.)

Anyways, I assume that's what he's referring to.

It's really rare that any "schedule" is set in the linux world. People do say things like, "maybe Dec." but that's a far cry from a schedule. Who's to enforce it? Rather, software is made available when it's authors think it's ready. In this case, lots of us have been running 2.4 kernels for many months, totally stable and without any issues. I'm on -test7 24X7 for months. Now, this box has no fancy hardware, YMMV, but compile one and try it, it works great here.

i am on test11 and its great. I compiled it and have been using it for a few weeks with no problems. I just want it to become official and declared stable. When that happens, it will be shipped with all distros (or most), and with encourage more windows users to switch to Linux.

I'm running 2.2.18 atm and get a lot of kernel errors at bootup which I can't seem to get rid of, is the latest test version of 2.4 a good idea to use and is it likely to help me get rid of booting errors?
Thanks

I would think you've been around here long enough to know...

Very close with tux... His name was Tennesee Tuxedo. His walrus freind was ChumBly, and visited a smart guy named Mr. Fineus J. Whoopee.

I can't wait till the 2.4 Kernel comes out... argg, hurry it up! but don't hurry it up the way Bill Gates hurried Windows 98...

Will the new 2.4 kernel get rid of all the USB Printer unreliability problems, please say yes.
Thanks

Sounds to me like you need to look at what those exact errors are then be a good investigator and see why they pop up -- post 'em here and maybe we can help you out with that. You may just need to reconfigure that kernel.
I've used both 2.2.18 and 2.4test12 and they both work well with no errors.
