SoNiCfReAk 08-02-2002, 01:36 AM Hey, when I try to install an ICON theme in the look & feel menu by point it to the index.desktop file of the icons I want to install, it does nothing ?? Okie 08-02-2002, 10:35 AM depends on the distro, in Redhat and probably most all distros, i can take some icons (in redhat) and put them in /usr/share/icons and then be able to use them, as far as a theme i never bothered with themes, i allways just hunt down a cool wallpaper for my desktop and select it manually and the same with icons selecting it manually is how i do it... Hayl 08-02-2002, 10:47 AM When I install icon themes in KDE3, I use the .tar.gz file, not the index.desktop. I don't think the index.desktop file works for adding a new theme. Hayl 08-02-2002, 10:48 AM btw, by using the tar.gz file, the theme will get installed to: ~/.kde/share/icons/ThemeName SoNiCfReAk 10-15-2002, 05:02 PM I cant find the directory ~/.kde/share/icons/ Somebody please help!! kemical 10-16-2002, 04:29 AM How to install an new icon theme Open the KDE-Menu an start the Control Center Click on "Look and Feel" and "Icons" Browse to the location of the new icon theme by clicking the small folder button Click on "Install New Theme" to add the new icons Click "Apply" Have fun! :-) taken from - http://www.kde-look.org/help/howto.php?type=22 check that link for further reference .. mborrill 10-16-2002, 08:04 AM Originally posted by kemical How to install an new icon theme Open the KDE-Menu an start the Control Center Click on "Look and Feel" and "Icons" Browse to the location of the new icon theme by clicking the small folder button Click on "Install New Theme" to add the new icons Click "Apply" Have fun! :-) taken from - http://www.kde-look.org/help/howto.php?type=22 check that link for further reference .. But I did install the Icons a different way. I installed the icons by searching for "Icons" It found several folders. I selected the Icons folder with the path of KDE3, untared the files into the directory, went into the above mentioned program, selected my icon theme, and bam, Im set. Thanks :) justlinux.com
