I just got a printer for my linux system, I have no previous experience on configuring printers of any kind on linux.
The printer i got was the Epson Stylus Color 880 and i was trying to get it working on usb. So i tried everything on the NHF's but nothing worked. I didn't even know whether my system detected the printer. And during bootup, it did not see usb anywhere on the checklist. Any help will be much appreciated, Thank you

You either need to get usb patch for kernel 2.2.17 or get 2.2.18 which has usb-backport...even better get 2.4.0 kernel and configure it with usb options you need.Hope this helps.

Drake already has a good deal of usb patched into the kernel, so it may not be a issue. Hit up http://www.linux-usb.org for good printer setup tutorials

I read the USB howto and it says to insert some usb modules, but i cant seems to find any of those modules.
Go into DrakConf and in StartUP Service put a tick next to USB. You should be good to go from there.

Also, in DrakConf when you go to setup your printer:
location may be usb
But device better be /dev/lp0
That's what it took to bet my HP running
yes, and make sure that USB and CUPS are turned on.
You're lucky your printer has a driver in CUPS

yep yep all those usb and cups are turned on. But i still don't see the printer detected. Will i see some kinda indication on the startup check list when the printer got detected?
