installing cards

I have just finished installing linux mandrake 8.0 and I was wondering if anyone can direct me to a good link that explains how to install NICs and or sound cards(sound vlaster live). This is my first attempt at using linux and I know nothing about it.

You mean installing drivers. Search google, or look in the NHF's, you need to install modules. It is really easy to do.
