I would like to know if there are any good distributions that can fit on a floppy? I was thinking about putting linux on a computer but I don't have a burner so I thought I might try out a floppy distribution. So please post any suggestions and maybe some utilities that can fit on a floppy since these distributions probably won't have a lot. Please post links to these distros too. Also, where can I find information on installing linux from a floppy?
Thanks

what kind of connection to the net do you have? you could always do a ftp install of debian if your connection is somewhat fast.If not try freshmeat.net for small distros

My connection is 56k. Can I still install without a burner? If so then how? But I would like to install this on a computer that doesn't have a connection at the moment.
Is there any way I could transfer a file through like USB. Maybe I could then downlaod a normal distro and then transfer it. But could someone explain this ftp installation process to me.
Thanks

well, you can install without a burner, but this requires that the ISOs are already on the computer that you are installing to (and you need two partitions to do this - one for the ISOs to sit on, and one to install linux to. obviously you can't install linux overtop of the ISOs)
I don't think it's possible to transfer files over USB... but you could probably get a direct cable connection between two computers... (I believe this is on the serial port, although I don't have any experience with this, and I wouldn't know how to go about transferring files over it).
Your best bet is probably a floppy distro, though. small enough to install without any of that hassle. I don't think you'll be able to find any that run x windows, though, so it'll all be text based for you :)
