Ok, so I burned this 700MB CD-R of Mandrake 7 using Adaptec's Easy CD Creator and apparently there is a problem. Not only can it not be formatted ISO9660, drake install can't read it even as Joliet. Even though I can do some functions in MS-DOS, PC-DOS, and OpenDOS like dir, ls, etc. I can't run install from the disk either. Anyway, I have tried like 6 CD-ROM drives to see if it is the reader that's causing the problem. Some work better than others, but none will run executable directly from the disk, so I decided to copy the whole thing to the HDD. It gets hung up every so often and can't read the file(s) from the CD, so instead of hitting 'r' every 20 seconds, i worked this little manual solution. ;^*

BTW: any other ideas?
Note: I already upped the buffering of MSCDEX... and it helps a little...

what's that a picture of there? it's a little dark on my monitor... and i can't turn the brightness up more

how about one of those bird toys that rock back and forth? my grandparents had one back in the 70's
i forget what it is really called, am searching the net for a picture

He's got a video card (or something) resting on the "R" key to give some kind of response to the installation program rather than type the letter "R" 14 gazillion times.
