I'm sick and tired of windows. Wanna try Linux.
Should I choose Corel or Mandrake? And in that case why?

Do yourself a favor and forget about Corel. Mandrake is pretty easy to install and will detect most hardware. Caldera is another distro with an easy install. Caldera however uses KDE only for Xwindows. You might want to try different window managers until you find one you like. Mandrake has KDE,Gnome, WindowMaker, AfterStep etc. Again if you want to save yourself a headache forget about Corel.

Good Luck!!

Here's another vote for Mandrake 8.0. Easy install, great hardware detection & a familiar GUI. You can find it (supported version) on the shelf at most software stores for under $30, or you can get both CDs from Linuxcentral (unsupported version) for $5.

Have fun & welcome to the free world!

My experience has been pretty much the same as everyone else who has posted on this topic. I think the hardware detection is probably the best thing about this distro. :) The Konqueror browser (for the Internet) is a heck of a lot better than Netscape 4.7...but then again...almost any browser is.

Corel Linux is pretty much dead... Mandrake is the way to go because it's easy and there's a lot of support for it here and on other forums... and if it's your first time, chances are you'll get stuck :P
