a recent thread concerning eterm made me realize i wanted eterm. i have it downloaded and installed but i was missing libImlib2.so.1 i believe it was called. the eterm website said it would work partially without it but when i click on it, it will look like its starting then stop. so i downloaded this libImlib2.so.1 as a source. i tried installing it as follows:
i extracted the files to a folder, it had a conifig file in it so i typed ./configure this made a bunch of lines after which it looked ok i guess. then i typed make again a bunch of lines. then i typed su -c "make install" it looked like ot did stuff right? but i still dont show the lib as being installed. is this the right way to install? i learned this way watching chris dibona but it didnt seem to work, im having trouble finding a place that covers this subject as well if you have any sugestions there. and why cant i get more than one opera window to open at a time?

btw you guys are great, keep up the good work

The gcc howto (http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/GCC-HOWTO/index.html) is the bible of compiling. Simplified instructions can be found in the LNAG (see hint and sig)
