I just need a little help to get Slack configured how I want it, namely, how do I get the Tulip driver to work, I've tried going in and uncommenting it in rc.modules, and also recompileing the Kernel with support for it, but both times I was not able to get it to work. What I would like really is if someone could point me in the right place to look for the info I need.

Also, I want to know if anyone has Lilo playing nice with Win2k's bootloader, and if so, what steps if any they had to take, I haven't tried it myself, since the boot disk is safer and works just fine.

System info that might be needed,
Slack 8, Can't remember what make of card, just that its driver disk came witht the Tulip driver, and that Mandrake 8 used that same driver for that card also.

What exactly is the problem (error message) when you load the tulip module? Is it a resource conflict? If so, then try disabling PnP OS in the bios.

If not, then post the errors.

No error's at all, it just doesn't act like its there, if I run netconfig, it detects only one of the two nic, a 3com card, and doesn't say anything about there being a second.

after I did the recompile, I tried a modprobe tulip, and recived no errors.

well that seems to be a limitation of netconfig...i have had no problems with tulip with kernel 2.4.x

try doing this command: cat /proc/bus/pci and see if your other NIC is detected, if so then it IS infact working, and you will have to set it up manually.

I've been playing around with Slack the past coupla days. I had win2k on my /dev/hda1 partition, and i installed linux onto my /dev/hda5. For some reason i had to do the expert LILO configuration while i was installing Slack to get LILO to install. I put it on my master boot record and everythign worked fine.

type modinfo -p tulip, as root, and see what parameters you need to put in.
