i have a cable modem using a PCI NIC via rj45 connection. i downloaded red hat, installed it. (i dual boot w/ win98) Linux runs good. i'm not very familiar w/ it though. i have gnome running too. i am trying to get connected to the internet, and i have no clue on where to start! :-)

Depends how your cable modem is setup. If your using dhcp, which you probably are, just download the dhcp client deamon, .tar.gz (http://www.phystech.com/ftp/dhcpcd-1.3.19-pl6.tar.gz) / .rpm (ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat-6.2/i386/RedHat/RPMS/dhcpcd-1.3.18pl3-1.i386.rpm) read the readme and get it to start on start up. You might want to check out a firewall while your at it.
