i installed redhat7.1 6 times so far, last time i upgraded it, i made a mistake i installed the LILLo again so i have three choices widnows shows two times and one for linux. when i type startx lots of errors show up, (cannot support 24 depth,fatal server error) now here is my questions please answer them cuz i wanna learn linux but it's not giving me the chance and i really got sick of it.
1-what do i need to do to remove the second windows boot option from the LILO.
2-this is very important the screen keeps blinking whenever i logon, i cannt even type why is this happening??
3- for god's sake how can i start the xwindow system.
4- do i type xconfigure or xconfigurator to get into the setup menu folks here r kindda confusing. thank very much

Log in as root and type in 'Xconfigurator', this will allow you to change the settings for your monitor and video card. This will fix the problem with your screen and will allow you to log in to X. If your video card is not configured properly then the xwindows system will not start.

As far as fixing Lilo, I'm not 100% positive, but the only way that I know how to make changes to Lilo is to:
A) log in as root
B) startx
C) open up a console (something like the MSDOS screen on windows)
D) type in "linuxconf"

This gets you into the Linux configuration tool. Here you will be able to find options for configuring Lilo...hope this helps some.

when i type xconfigurator it says no such command. i used xf86config it wroked, i changed settings for my moniter and video card with min configuration, i typed startx it generated the following errors:
-cannot support depth 24 (i put the resouletion to 16 bit though why does this show up?)
-screens found but no usable configuration.
-no screens found

finally after the screen keeps blinking this message appears:
Intit: id "X" too fast : disabled for 5 mintues. so what do i need to do now??
