i recently installed mandrake (im a newbie to linux) as my only os. im interested in creating a dual boot system with windows. I dont know what to do thoguh. do i make a windows bootdisk or what? http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/confused.gif thx for the help for such a dumb question.

First step, go here and print it out. Ignore the stuff about NT.

Triple boot (http://www.linuxnewbie.org/nhf/intel/osbooting/tripleb.html)

Basically, you have to start over and install Windows first. When Windows installs it overwrites the master boot record of the drive and you lose Linux.

Not true. Yes, it wipes the mbr clean, but if you have a linux boot disk, boot into linux, and as root, run /sbin/lilo and it will rewrite it. Then it's just a matter of adding windows to your lilo.conf file and running /sbin/lilo again.

When I saw "newbie" in your post I assumed you had very little experience with Linux and would be uncomfortable doing it Evil Jeff's way.
