It's usually at random, but some time or another, it gives me an abnormal error or something and cancels the setup! It's totally random! How the hell do I fix this?!

OK, new developements! I get far enough as to being able to select my packages. Then, once I select them, and it does that loopback or whatever thing... it gives me a "kernel panic" type thing and forces me to reboot! Bah!

You'll have to provide a little more info than that. Hardware, partition setup, multiboot.
