I installed Debian potato with sound support from the module configuration initially. And I tried to find the emu10k1 module using modprobe (it's not there)
After doing some searches, I learn that the kernel supports the sblive, but you need to compile support into the kernel. Now - what's the difference between adding sound support in the initial install and compiling sound support by rebuilding the kernel?
I don't mind trying to rebuild my kernel, but if I added sound support initially, how come I can't find the emu10k1 module? I want to avoid rebuilding the kernel if it's unnecessary.
I will be grateful for any help!
