Running E 16 here, and for graphical file browsing i've been using Nautilus, but it LAGS like hell and I just don't like it to begin with. Anybody got a file manager that's stable, sleek, and SNAPPY? thanks.

Gnome midnite commander (gmc) is much faster and I like it better.

Others I have seen recommended/tried are rox and gentoo (the file manager, not the diatro). Gentoo is really snappy in fluxbox.

go here:

http://chuck.burkins.net/linuxfile.html

these are some good ones, but there still is a lot more file managers out there...

xvfilemgr, efileman, rox, flowe's filemanager, xftree, bxfm, fileman, oscar, fred's own filemanager, jafm, foxman...

Look for one called Rox - it has most of the features of Nautilus but is only a few hundred K and is a hell of a lot faster...

How about I start an `All filemanagers' thread?

then after we get in the 90's someone can start testing them all out...
