Hi all,
My computer freezes up running kde3 every now and then - probably once every 15 hours of operation.
Does anyone know where i can find the logfiles for kde, so that i can try to isolate the problem?
kde3.02 is installed to /opt/kde3, and i am running mandrake 8.2
thanks!

Are you running kde using a gui login such as kdm or are you starting it from the console?
If you were to run it from the console using `startx' then when it crashes any errors should be dumped to the console.

it doesnt crash, and take me back to console. It totally freezes, and causes a reboot. and YES, ctrl-alt-backspace doesnt work, nor does anything else... except the power button!
i am using startx though... no gdm

since it isn't taking you back to console try `startx >a_file' instead of just typing startx.
I think that will save all console messages to a_file while it is happening.
So after a crash you might be able go back and read that file which should have all of the console messages.
I have some doupts that any messages will be dumped when it crashes like that, but it might be worth a try.
