I am sick of the games that come with Linux. I need some games on my harddrive, soo.. any pointers in which is fun?

I'm looking for full games, not demos, and _maybe_ something that would allow multiplayers over the net?

(PS I don't consider FrozenBubbles as a cool game) :p

Thanks in advance! ;)

KFoulEggs (sick and twisted take on Tetris/Jewels concept)
Gnome Mahjongg
Quadra

BZFlag is very addictive and great multiplayer fun. I wrote a review of it too on Linux Orbit:

I tried that bzFlags and it was kind of cool...but I was running it on a crappy Windows machine and it ruined my experiance with it...gotta try it on this one at home (Killer gaming rig :D)

Good review by the way, I read it when you put it out (I think from a link off of LinuxToday) good job!

Here's a link to Linux Online's apps, go into the Entertainment section and you'll find litterly TONS of games there!

Heck ya! I've managed to find some odd servers for ArmageTron last year, but it's not much fun when they don't chat and it's like playing with really good AI's :D

I know very few people around here that even know what Linux is, let alone us it! I have one freind that is waiting on me to fix his PC so he can load Linux and start messing around with it (he's a network admin and loves the security and performace of it)...hard to get to working on it when I work full time, have a family and take night classes :(

Frozen Bubble rocks.

FreeCiv would probably be good if I could get the hang of it - I remember years ago I was totally addicted to Civilization on the PC, but I'm just not catching on to FreeCiv very easily as well.
There are actually several pretty impressive looking games over on freshmeat.net if you browse through the game section...

Thanks everyone who provided a game for me to check out, especially those to game me an URL ;)

I think Parsec and bzflag is awesome,
but Armagetron has such primitive graphics I don't even want to go near it :(

Keep the games coming!

If you want something that is really addictive and requires lots of interaction with other players check out utopia. Now that there are linux calculators around you can compete on an even footing with windows players. Last time I played there were linux based kingdoms that were at the top of the rankings.

Check it out , but be warned that a round lasts for around 3-4 months and you wont get the hang of it until the 2nd or 3rd round....

I remember awhile ago when I was looking for Quake linux binaries I stumbled across a game, which name eludes me for the time. But it was a text based, multiplayer only shooter... but it was from side on not first person. I had a run around by myself and it seemed cool. If you could find out about that it would be fun!

TTFN,
Scrapz :p

ftp> ls

Ah, I've found the problem. They've gone anal and have decided to stop hotlinking, meaning I cant post links to images on external websites. Poo. Meaning I'm going to have to find another web host again, but that'll be for another post ;)

They have the Utopian Angel for Linux now? cool...I only played that for a few ages, but I'm dangerously addicted to Earth2025...for the last 4 years! :D
I remember when Utopia first started...where did all those years go!?!

Yes Scrapz_1 it works now. :D
I can't really comprehend why people have dark or totally pitch black desktops.
It looks so..... I don't know a nice way to put it but it just looks so unwlecoming :(

I like a wallpaper that has beautiful resolution and high key.
I dunno maybe it's just me :p
