How the hell do i get kde3.0.2 to run without the above wizard coming up every time i boot kde3. i tried removing the kpersonalizer from the /opt/kde3/bin/ but then kde3 stalled when loading.
I have no kde2.2.2 stuff installed (in case it makes a difference). using Mandrake 8.2

This is a common problem and has been addressed many times. Look for the .kpersonalizerrc file and edit it to include:
[General]
FirstLogon=false

It is a minor bug in KDE3, but can be a bit annoying...
Here is what you do:
Open konquerer, and type in the addressbar: /home/<your home directory>/.kde3/share/config
Now locate the file kpersonalizerrc and edit it with a text editor (emacs should do fine, but any other will do just as well)
The file is probably blank.
Add the following lines:
[General]
FirstLogin=false
Save it.
Next time you log in, the wizard will not show anymore.
Beware that this kpersonalizerrc file is user specific. Therefore, this should be done for each user on your system (login as root, and copy the file to the other users, if more than two users use the system. If it is only you and one other user, then it may be quicker to edit the file again for the other user).
Success!

if you want to get rid of it perminatly go to /usr/share/autostart and delete it. and it will never bother you again (unless you reinstall your OS or KDE)

Or as I suggested in another thread just uncheck "executable" for all users in the file properties itself.
