Sorry for asking (there are lotsa kernel questions), but i really have no idea what to do.

I have RH7, kernel 2.2.16-22 and compiled kernel 2.4.7
after a few attemps :) i finally got it to work, but now when i start the pc it says:
Bringing up interface eth0: Delaying eth0 initialization [ FAILED ]

Also some other things dont work (like sound) but they're not in my concern (yet)
My biggest problem now is how to start the network.
Can you give me an advice where to start?

This is where I started (http://www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO/Kernel-HOWTO.html). Apparently you have left out support for some of your devices. The HOWTO is the definitive source of information regarding configuring and compiling a kernel.

Yeah sorry.

Actually I have this document opened at the moment (plus 2 more kernel-howtos/guides)
But its kinda confusing, thats why I'm asking for help.

In general, I always try to RTFM before ask stupid questions :(
