Hello,

First off, sorry if someone already pointed this out and talked about this before. I did a search of the forum and on the web and wasn't able to find what I wanted exactly.

Basically what my issue is, that I am constantly checking my email from different machines, both at home and out-and-about. Also I tend to be a fickle and will reinstall my Windows machine every month. Plus I finally have enough money saved to get an affordible-portible notebook for my studies [dedicated college student, dedicated for my faviortie subjects anyway; social sciences] and boping around.

What I would like to do is to centralize my different email accounts (All POP3: one for school, one for family & friends, and one for junkmail and signing on to sites, and my ISP email) on one machine where I can manage my email and can keep some of the messages indefintly. If I can do that, I don't have to worry about clogging up my email accounts, if I leave it on the servers, I don't have to worry about important messages being lost on computers I rarely use, and I can better filter out the junk-junk on my junk-mail account. I can both use e-mail clients on my machines and on others use a web-based mail. All the while having the ability to have the server filter messages automatically and other adminstrating options.

So what little I know about email servers, would I have to use some form of IMAP server that can use webmail? [Do IMAP servers usually have this option?] But I also would like to have the option to download from my other accounts and have the ability to control filtering, and other semi-advanced options. It would act kinda' as a middleground, when I request to update my mail, it connects to my different email accounts. Perhapes to save time (If I forget to check mail for a few days for example) it regurally checks email at certain time period. That would be nifty, and would make life easier.

So is that the right idea? If so, it's time to reserach how to do it the best overall way (that is free too). If not, what would be the best way to reach my goals, of a universal email account, that makes my migratory habits easier?

Thanks,
Nick Monter

Yes, This is simple.

Using fetchmail you can download your email into a single pop account. And there 100's of webmail apps aout there.

Only things you will need is Fetchmail, Apache, PHP (compiled into Apache and the PHP Lib's) a pop server (cucipop it the best for you situation).

I have a friend that is writing a NHF for this @ www.fluidgravity.com (http://www.fluidgravity.com/viewtopic.php?p=61#61)
