fluxbox newbie (xine)

i just installed fluxbox on my red hat 7.2 system and i am having trouble using xine, it works fine in kde but when i run it in fluxbox there is no link to it like in kde so instead i use xterm and go to dir with file and type "xine <filename>" and then xine pops up with the file in its playlist but when i click play it says cannot find codec i know i have the codecs because i installed them in kde and they worked fine any help would be great

Do you have the codec directory setup in Xine's config?

Are you using

xine dvd://VTS_01_0.VOB

to start Xine via the commandline?
