I'm in quite a spot. I tried to update my debian distro from potato to woody and after doing so I am having tons of problems. My nic was down so I set it back up and got it hitting the net, but for some reason names won't resolve even though the correct name servers are in resolv.conf. If I could get name services running again it would really help. I would use the man pages but one of the side effects is that I no longer have any!!!
Thanks in advance for any suggestions you may have!!

Ah crap...just occured to me that maybe this should be in tech support forum or another one. If you want/need to move it please feel free. :(

I saw you posted in this thread (http://www.linuxnewbie.org/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=022103), but did you do all of the stuff in this thread as well when upgrading?
And if your nameservers are in /etc/resolv.conf okay, can you ping them? Are you sure that they are up? Try some other nameservers.
And just about any on-topic question is okay in this forum, but sometimes people prefer to put it in a more specific forum so that it can be answered by people with more experience in that, or so that it doesn't get knocked off the front page as easily (since it doesn't take but a few hours to get knocked off the front page in this forum)

Thanks for the reply Strike!
To answer your first question, yes I did follow those steps from the NHF. When I tested them I did an nslookup and that is what failed. I do know the name servers are up as I tested them with my winders machine and they connect fine and resolve the addresses perfectly. At this point I am so far behind I may just wipe and start over and skip the upgrade. But I think first I'll just take one more stab at it. :)
