Here is the deal. I have 3 boxes currently running in my network. 1 Linux (Mandrake 8.1; 1 Win2k (grilfriend's); and 1 tri boot (Win2k main, WinXP - testing, Win2kserver - testing). I seem to have som sort of wierd DNS issue in my LAN. I have running on my Linux box the following servers:

Samba - love it works great
ProFTP - pretty cool, holds MP3s to download and listen to at work
Apache - just something else to play with
Qmail - not finished yet, doesn't work

Everytime my girlfriend mistypes a web page in her brwser, she gets redirected to my web page, on the apache server. I though it was just her, til I started doing it deliberately. I find it humorous that everytime an invalid Domain is typed into ANY web browser, including the linux box - my web page is dispayled, instead of an error. Not really sure - but I would appreciate any advise.

Thanks
Aaron

are you running your own DNS?

I think your resolv.conf entries point to the apache server. Which I also think is your gateway to internet? right?

No, and no. Thats the part that is wierding me out. I MAY have inadvertantly installed bind, but am not using it. I can run digs on the Linux box and the servers thatare queried by default are my ISPs, as they should be. Also, I run a simple router with port forwarding as the gateway. As far as the other network nodes are concerned, this box is nothing more than a file server.

Did you install squid??

no, I don't think so. What does squid do and how would it interfere with this network.
