i have successfully installed a working version of redhat 7. and now want to connect to the internet through the os, i have installed a modem(external) on ttyS0 and now i want to use btopenworld anytime to connect.
I have setup up how many of the text files on the internet suggest but after i dial in the connect seems to just hang were on a windows machine it would test the username and password.
I think that the problem is that i havent setup a ip for the name server, and im not really that sure what ip address i should put here.(in linuxconf)
If anyone has a clue what i am doing wrong or could at least explain to me what ip address i should put in the ip name server field i would be very greatful
thanks.

Did you start at the start here thingy? You can configure from there as well, but I tossed mine when I got configured.

If you can't figure it from there, here is another way.

If you are running the gnome desktop (redhat's default), you can use an applet to connect/disconnect.

Search around on the foot menu for something that says panel > add to panel > Applet > network > RH PPP Dialer and click that. It will be added to the panel.

Now right click on the applet and select "Configure PPP" and that will run a wizzard type thingy to set up your modem.

To save you a bit of reading, the most likely problem is that you haven't selected CHAP authentication in whichever dialer you're using instead of PAP (BTopenworld is not like other ISPs, in more than one way :D)
