Been using Linux for 1 day now, what a difference from Windows. However I am having problems with the speed, and ram usage (512mb total 7mb free) I was given a few sugestions, however as I know NOTHING about linux, so I have no idea on how to implament those ideas, can anyone recommend to me a good guide for new users?

Sorry I guess you should have a little more info than nothing lol, I am using Red Hat 7.3 and I did the update so everything is current, I am dual booting WinXP, RH 7.3 using the GRUB boor loader, I have a 50mb boot partition, 1024mb(1 Gig) swap partition, and the rest on a 5gig partition. I have 512mb of crucial ram a celleron 1.2 @ 1.5, GF2MX400 80gb IBM 120GXP hard drive, enermax 350w PSU. I don't know what other info you may need, but let me know if you do and I will find it.

Hi,

There must be a beginners guide somewhere on linuxdoc.org.

I need help on one more thing, and I feel real stupid for this, how do I change my screen resolution, I am used to windows XP and I set it to 1600X1200, that is way to hard to read while in KDE, making it hard to learn. sorry to bother you all with such a stupid question, but I do not want to have to reformat and reinstall just to change screen resolution.

type in the command Xconfigurator from a terminal and press enter. Remember to first log in as root.
