if i just added 64mb more ram, do i need to reconfigure anything? or will it detect it automatically and utilize it?

Should detect it automatically. Did with my computer. (I'm using Mandrake at the moment.) If not, I know Mandrake has a program that lets you specify how much RAM you have installed.

only 64? 256megs of PC133 is like $23 these days ($16 on pricewatch) go buy some more :-)
Seriously though, "cat /proc/meminfo" will display the memory info, just take a look at meminfo to make sure Linux knows it's all there. Other then that Linux automatically makes very good use of all the memory you give it.
I got two PC133 512 DIMMS for 39 @pricewatch

Type 'man bootparam' if what I'm going to say sounds unfamiliar.
The Linux KERNEL automatically detects everything UP TO 64MB.
Any amount ABOVE that must be passed on to the kernel upon boot on the lilo prompt or inside your /etc/lilo.conf header like this:
mem = xxxxMB
Usually the more "friendly" distro's can figure this out upon first installation but I don't think they'll know themselves after the distro's been running for a while.
Hope this helps.

hehe wierd, after i installed the 64mb ram, it only detected it as 16mb, i guess this motherboard is too old to use the newer types of ram.
