I would really suggest you do a search in the General forum for i.e. 'best distro' and you should find more than you can probably read in a lifetime.;)

You will get 100 different answers asking that question...everyone has their own favorite distro. My personal is libranet, the stability and ease of use of Debian, but the ease of installation and setup of a mandrake/red hat...best of both worlds! :)

Distro Watch (http://www.distrowatch.com/top.php)
If you want to really learn linux and learn it thouroughly, I would suggest Gentoo (http://www.gentoo.org/)
If you want to play around and use it a while and see if you like it, I personally recommend RedHat 7.2, or one of the other 3 distros that are more popular than Gentoo.

I tried some of them and I like Red Hat 7.3 the best for me.
I also new at this and found that the installation and set up was easy.
I Even downloade Opera and intalled it and it realy worked.:D
I know that sounds like a simple thing to do, but for me it made me like I finally did it myself.:)
