I'm trying to set up the 64bit WEP key for an existing Windows wireless network on my new linux box.
The card is an Orinoco Silver, using the orinoco_cs driver from pcmcia-cs. Running in ad-hoc with no encryption, I'm able to ping to another wireless client. However, when I try to set up WEP, I get nothing (well, I get signal, but no ping reply).
The windows system is set up with the WEP key 11:22:33:44:55 (But not really)... but all my attempts to set this up on the linux system have apparently failed.
If I add KEY="1122334455" it shows up in iwconfig as 1122-3344-55 (Is that what it should look like?) and I get no ping. If I set it using - or : as delimiters, it looks like its trying to set a 128bit key, with a lot of extra 0's on the end and I get no ping.
I've tried adding key_1 and enable encryption opts in config.opts, but have had no luck with that either. Generally, I get a bad beep tone when linux detects card and tries to load the module.
I've also tried setting up a five char password based key on my win system, but still got no ping...
I've googled myself batty... anyone have any good docs on setting up 64bit WEP on a linux box using orinoco_cs?
Thanks,
