I'm running Red Hat 7.1. I wanted to install a ssh server, I went to rpmfind, searched for ssh-server and found some rpms. However, under the Distribution column, it says Linux/PPC Contribs .. will this work on my machine?

Which types are compatible with Red Hat?

What sort of machine are you using ? If it is an ordinary "intel-compatible" machine i.e. ordinary domestic PC, you need an rpm with i386, i486, i586 etc. These rpms are designed for that kind of architecture. A PPC machine is totally different and rpms for that kind of architecture will not run on an Intel based pc.
Hope that helps.

I'm sure ssh is included in RH. Go to any ftp site mirroring ftp.redhat.com and download from there.

You might want to go www.openssh.org (http://www.openssh.org) - I think they have rpms that will install on most distros.

PPC stands for PowerPC if I'm not mistaken. Don't download it unless you have a PowerPC machine.
