It seems like I can get java applets on some sites to work but not others.
I dig a lot fo those online Java-based games, and for example pretty much everything on Yahoo Games seems to work OK.
But, one of my favorite java-based game sites, http://www.brettspielwelt.de , doesn't seem to want to do anything.
Can anybody else get any of the games there to work?

What browser and what version of Java are you using? Perhaps try upgrading your version of Java.

I too have been having some serious Java trouble lately. I am running Mozilla 1.0, but have also tried it with Moz 1.1alpha. And a few different versions of Java.

Trying to get into Yahoo Chat, to talk to my friends (why you care about who I am talking too is beyond me  ) and it crashes the browser when it is trying to load certin classes.

Nothing changes on my end, it just stopped working one day. What I have done to "fix" it is delete the .java and .jri(something, not sure what this dir is called, but it should be listed right after .java alphabetically) directories and that seems to work, but I have to do it again if I close out the browser , and try to go back in.

I was thinking it was something on yahoo's end, since they are so lame, (I need new friends, but thats all they use) but his makes me wonder.

Heck, I even upgraded my installation from Slack 8.1rc2 to 8.1 final, and that didn't help.

Hi Shadoglare, Im using redhat 7.2 and downloaded java and installed per instructions and java works well. I tried your link and it also worked fine

http://closertech.com/java.jpg

download java from

http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/download.html

and follow readme

http://closertech.com/INSTALL

I had to put the

export PATH=/usr/lib/j2re1.3/bin:$PATH

in my profile.d so java would work on reboot

I found a rpm based java called kaffle that works for redhat and probably other rpm based systems and is built
by IBM and is as easy as installing the rpm, Im stilll using the java method I posted above becuase kaffle seems to work well except with LimeWire and I use LimeWire
Kaffle is available on ftp.redhat.com
if you have a problem finding it and need it let me know
