I was trying to setup my sound card, and ran sndconfig. It detected the wrong card, and when it tried to play the sample sound (there was no way, that I saw, to stop it!), my system locked up. Now I can't get it to boot without going into interactive mode and stopping the sound module from loading.

What file do I have to edit by hand to remove the "work" that sndconfig did? Once that's done, is there a better sound card config util that I could use?

Thanks
Rick

The sndconfig utility is interactive, not automatic, and is the best utility (but not the only method) for setting up sound.

You would edit /etc/modules.conf and remove the references to the sound card that was set up. Since you haven't mentioned what card you're using, can't really be much more help except to perhaps note that Drake 7.2 is fairly old, and that if the card is new, the older modules that are included with it might not work properly with your card.
