i have a visiontek geforce 2 mx (400 i think) 64 meg video card. the box says visiontek, not nvidia. so i tried to install X 4.1.0, cause it's supposed to support the geforce 2 series. but i'm having problems. when i startx, the video is purple and jumpy, and looks damaging. so has anyone had these problems? anyone get X working with this card? does anyone know if i should be downloading the linux drivers from nvidia even though i have a different flavor of the video card? man, i'm confused.

I have that card in a box running a triple boot: SuSE 7.2, Mandrake 8.0, & Redhat 7.1
All 3 OSs installed perfectly using the nv driver and XFree86 4.0.3 I then installed the NVidia drivers which went perfect in SuSE and Redhat, but Mandrake is an on-going battle, where they install and work perfectly but do not survive a reboot for some reason.
Very nice card -needs a fan though.

CMonster, thanks for the reply. I have one more question. There are two downloads at the nvidia site. one is a kernel patch(i think), and i forget what the other is. do i need both, or do i only need one?
