Im trying to get my modem working on red hat linux 7.1 but i keep on getting the error modem busy but it isnt. Ive got a k56 flex modem.

Without knowing the model of your modem I can't tell for sure...but I believe you, my friend, have a winmodem. The evil winmodems are realy cheap modems that move all of the data processesing from the hardware to the drivers. Unforunetly, for many winmodems, there are no linux drivers availible. You might have a chance to get it working if you have a modem with a lucent chipset...but I don't know how to find that out without knowing the model of the modem.
