I'm trying to install a (pretty cool) chinese TrueType font from ftp.gnu.org with the font installer in KDE. After installing the font, I found that it is available under konquer, but not Mozilla, or any other non-KDE app. :(

After inspecting the font.dir, etc. files and verifying with xlsfonts, I think fontinst probably get the encoding wrong:

xlsfonts *big5*
-arphic technology co -ar pl kaitim big5-medium-r-normal--0-0-0-0-p-0-ascii-0
-arphic technology co -ar pl mingti2l big5-medium-r-normal--0-0-0-0-p-0-ascii-0
-eten-fixed-medium-r-normal--16-150-75-75-c-160-big5-0
-eten-fixed-medium-r-normal--16-150-75-75-c-160-big5-0
-eten-fixed-medium-r-normal--16-150-75-75-c-160-big5.eten-0
-eten-fixed-medium-r-normal--16-150-75-75-c-160-big5.eten-0
-eten-fixed-medium-r-normal--24-230-75-75-c-240-big5-0
-eten-fixed-medium-r-normal--24-230-75-75-c-240-big5-0
-eten-fixed-medium-r-normal--24-230-75-75-c-240-big5.eten-0
-eten-fixed-medium-r-normal--24-230-75-75-c-240-big5.eten-0
I don't think that it should be ascii-0, should be big5-0 like the eten font below.
How to fix that? I don't know the format of fonts.dir, etc. Do I change that ascii-0 entry to big5-0 or add an entry? I noticed that my other ttf's have multiple entries.
