i just used their installer program. it was so easy, how much more user friendly can it get. anyways the only disappointment i have is it installed the binary , and i think i want to try to compile it from source . how much better do you think it runs on a native compile

I tried that, after 3 hours of compiling (yes 3 hours) I went to sleep. woke up in the morning and it had some error. I never did bother to get it working from source.

Well if you compile from source and use options from configure to --disable-tests --enable-optimize --disable-debug and others you should notice speed improvements...of course there's few catches to compiling and sometimes you get nice errors after compiling for more than hour (for me it takes ~90-120min).

It's good to check tinderbox and see if the trees are green :D otherwise your build might be broken, all the instructions on pulling the cvs tree and building are on mozilla's site.Hope this helps.
