i tried nstalling both redhat and mandrake i download the current stable versiomn and burned it to cd but it wont boot when i make a flopy boot disk it says the cds are bad. all the files on both red hat and mandrake cds are windows generic files am i doing smoething wrong?


please help

Are you sure you've burned the ISO files correctly to the CDs, you can't burn them as ordinary data files if you are making bootable CDs. Check out the instructions for burning ISO files correctly here:

As a last resort you could break down and spend $5 at Linux Central (http://www.linuxcentral.com) for the CDs or even (heaven forbid!) spend $40 on the boxed, supported version at your local software reseller...;)
