Is there anything built into linux like there is in Windows 98 where I can just type ftp on a cammand line and connect to an FTP server? I'm used to this scenario because I use AIX at work and it's like this. I assumed Linux would be the samw way but it doenws't work for me. I'd appreciate any help. THanks in advance.

Assuming you installed the network utilities, yes there is. ftp hostname should connect your to the host and prompt you for login info.

Well my friend, you have to have the ftp client installed. There is the basic client "ftp", but if you say that it oesn't work, then try these commands, "ncftp", "lftp", or if your running X-windows, "gftp". If none of these works, then you must have a really crappy installation. Hope this helps. http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/biggrin.gif
