Hi

I disconnected all the cables from my computer so I could plug connect my CD ROM to my sound card for CD audio, and when I re-connected everything, I plugged the mouse into the other USB port (there are two on my computer).

Anyway, when I booted Linux, it said that a new mouse had been found, so I chose "Generic USB" (This is what it had been running on before) and now it doesn't work at all. I tried plugging the mouse back into the first USB, but still nothing. I tried unplugging it so Linux would detect it's removal (Which it did) and then connecting it and choosing "Generic USB" again, but still nothing! It's working 'cause it works on DrakX if I put the installation CD in.

I'm using Mandrake Linux 8.2. Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers,

MartinB

Try this. Plug the mouse into the opposite port to the one it's in now. Boot. At the Lilo prompt, choose non-fb.

You will see all the info scroll past. It will then say Detecting new Hardware.
Then Kudzu will pop up, press a key and go into kudzu.
It should tell you it is removing a mouse configuration, choose remove.
It should then say it is configuring a new mouse, choose configure.

Once it boots up, see if the mouse works now, it should.
If not, use your k/board to open a console as root and type harddrake, or maybe . /usr/sbin/harddrake
Configure the mouse there, and reboot.

Hope that works.
