OK, This is my first post, so give me some slack. here is what i got. 1 a server i can only access remotley (I am in Ca, its in FL) its a default server install of RedHat6.2 and what i am trying to do is this..... Setup a username and password that can ONLY see its home dir. (no browsing upword from current dir.) and cant delete any thing. but can upload in the upload dir. and cannot telnet (I think i got this part...i set some stuff in the passwd file like /dev/null/ at the end of the line of the user i am trying to setup. Basicly, i want my box to be an FTP server. lots of people are going to be needing access to this 1 FTP account.

sorry for the long post. and thanks in advance for any help. even point me to a howto would be nice. Thanks

Josh.

I just set up the exact same type of server. You'll have to use the ProFTPD server instead of the usual wu-ftpd, but it's so much more awesome. Go to www.stikman.com (http://www.stikman.com) and download the rpm's You'll need to get the "core" and "standalone" rpm's. Oh and don't get the "rc2" packages, they are broken. Instead, get the "pre10" rpm's. Then e-mail me at macabre@linuxcrack.com and I'll send you a copy of my config script (which I hacked on for quite some time). http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/biggrin.gif
