Ok, not to nitpick to death, but there are a couple more things I'd like to mention.

First off, (depending on how you look at it, I suppose) the most important thing about LNO is the linux community and helping / supporting its members. Rants and off-topic are simply an aside, although still a valid part of any forum. Having said that, I wonder if having the 'Hot Threads' on the frontpage is such a good idea, as most if not all are in Rants or Off Topic. There's no way to guarantee that General Linux or Hardware or whatever forum topic would happen to be the 'hottest thread', but it may not look so professional to have the 'seedy side' of LNO portrayed right on the frontpage. Just my opinion.

Secondly, about the ads on the sidebar. Yes, ads pay for the site. Yes, ads are a necessary evil of internet commerce. BUT the idea of ads is that people visit the site, read the ads and potentially visit another site or click through and purchase a product displayed. If you aesthetically ruin a site by placing obnoxious, red blinking ads on every corner and especially taking up a good quarter of the page while you're trying to read this, you limit the visitors to your site and ergo limit the ad viewers, making them much less productive. Catch-22.

I dunno...I kinda like the 'seedy side' of LNO. ;)

It would be nice if it were possible to devise a script that displayed the ads in their current position until someone clicked on one, in which case it would open a new window with the link, and the ads would disappear from future LNO windows that are opened.
