Would it be posible to NOT host the adds on the LNO domain and to not have the links on the right to be in the forum? I never click on the ads and the take much of the viewing area as well as the links on the right.
When the ads were hosted on another domain I was able to edit my hosts file and the ads wouldn't show up. I was much happier having a more viewable area.
If this is not possible, I guess I'll have to live with it.
Thanks,
Brian

It'd be nice to be able to have the forums themselves take up all the horizontal space, maybe moving the links/ads on the right down to the bottom of the page would work...if this is possible :)
Absolutely! Please move or get rid of the right sidebar, the forum's all squished together, makes it hard to read.

I 2nd to Nth the motion to remove and or move the banners on the sides of the pages.
It'd be the best move, imho.

Hrm, maybe if each one of us were to donate $5-10, internet.com wouldn't have a reason to put ads up here.
What?
None of you want to pay for access to this site?
That's too bad...:o

Which is exactly why I said to MOVE them and not remove them ;) This site has to be funded somehow, ads and whatnot are fine, just the location of them is a little annoying....

Personally, the worst part of the ads are:
A) Only the top and bottom rotate (different ads per visit)
B) Side ad doesn't really target much of an audience after the first...oh, week of showing it.
C) Having "internet.com" splattered over the page...lets see 1...2...3...4...5... about 5 times.
I don't know about you guys, but having the ads target the audience would be highest priority on my agenda. Especially when, from what I hear, they're here to help fund the site. Keeping in mind, back when there was no sidebar, I still saw the big fat ugly banner ads at the top and bottom of the page, and I didn't mind them, I knew they had a purpose and it really didn't bother me to see them there. This whole side-bar is much like the one everyone has seen in netscape/mozilla, that sucker is turned off the instant I had a chance, and you ask why?
I turn it off because it gets in the way, it squishes the content that I'm trying to get at. I don't mind scrolling an extra couple lines up or down to get past an ad at the top or bottom, I still see them, but they're not in the way.
Much like scanez said, we're just asking them to be moved, it's not like anyone is asking internet.com to remove them entirely, but to appropriately place them in areas where it won't be so intrusive to the content that _everyone_ visits the site for.

Well, I could tolerate ads if the ads stopped appearing after being displayed a certain amount of times per day on my machine.... after all, the advertiser pays according to number of times the ad was delivered, so this info, along with cookie tracking, should make for easy coding, IMO!
I (we all?) obviously get so much usefulness from seeing the same ad displayed 324 times since last month, the same ad I saw a year ago..... it seems stupid for them to waste the bandwidth delivering what I actively ignore, so internet.com could save the effort and expenses after, say, 30 display attempts which produced no response.
Ah well, at least somebody is paying for the site, 'cuz I'm certainly not a site sponsor.

It's possible that the webmasters don't have anything to say abou t the ads...
